About Me
I’ve enjoyed teaching at the University of Toronto since I completed my Ph.D. at Duke University in Political Science. My research focuses on public opinion and voting behavior. I will draw on my background as a political scientist to help UTFA identify remedies to crucial issues, act strategically in its relations with the university administration, and revitalize UTFA’s democratic governance.
I am committed to working to help faculty and librarians after serving from 2020-2023 on UTFA Council. I left after becoming president of my neighborhood's ratepayer association. My involvement with UTFA, and my commitment to our membership never flagged. I continue to sit on UTFA's:
-
University and External Affairs Committee,
-
Salary, Benefits, Pensions and Workload Committee
-
Apportionment Committee.

I will bring a variety of skills to the UTFA executive. My graduate training included negotiation techniques and applied game theory, and my teaching incorporates lessons from both, giving me confidence that I can chart a thoughtful, pragmatic course forward for UTFA in its relations with the administration. I will draw on my research experience with surveys and focus groups to better understand the needs and interests of UTFA's membership. I have experience supervising the public policy co-op program at UTSC, leading a political advocacy group, & co-chairing a campus non-profit. I volunteer with my synagogue, at the local Jewish community centre, and on various political campaigns in the GTA and in the USA.

I am passionate about teaching, like my father and his father. Our family reflects diverse interests, with a rabbi, a physiotherapist, a librarian, a microbiologist, and a transportation planner all in the family Whatsapp group ready to provide insights and advice.

In my free time, I enjoy cycling, learning Turkish on Duolingo, listening to DvoÅ™ák and Lu Kala, and singing along to ABBA songs with my family (who are all much better singers than me).
